This was the first site planted by Martin. It's not actually at Varteg, but 5 miles to the northwest. The trees are visible as a triangle on Google Maps about 100 yards northwest of the top pond.

The planting 'method' was circular. When subsequent measurements were taken this made it very hard to work out the locations of the individual trees. As a result the trees on Varteg were planted in rows.
