December : Planning for the future - the legacy of our research
With no tree measuring to tackle this year, as the final 20-year measurements are not due until the Cariad plot in 2023, we continue to deal with publicising results and planning what next.
Our group is trying to reach out to various local groups, organisations and parts of government with the aim of creating a wildlife corridor connecting the open-cast coal lands of south Wales. We want to give nature a helping hand to increase biodiversity and carbon capture, alleviate flooding downstream, and help the well-being of the local communities by involving them and visually improving the area by planting trees in ecologically-suitable patches.
